There are few things in life that move me more than color.
From the time I was a little girl, I have somehow used color to organize my thoughts. Some people use numbers, others use words, I use color.
Every word or idea that comes to my mind has a corresponding color. When I hear a random word, I subconsciously associate it with a color. I do the same thing for people, animals, plants. Everything in the universe, in my mind, has a color to go with it.
For example, the number 4, to me, is purple. My cat, Elphie, is yellow. My mom is green, which works out very well, considering that is her favorite color.
Needless to say, most of my photographs are centered around color first, then composition. I rarely photograph in monotone, but it does happen from time to time.
At one point, I had to challenege myself to abandon color for a month, and process my photos in either black and white or sepia. No color allowed.
To this day, it was one of the most difficult months of my life, but I learned a lot, and have since developed a love of montone photos.
