In November of 2010, I met and fell in love with (and now, thankfully, am blessed to spend my days with) a wonderful photographer who shoots film. His name is Evan Leavitt.
As a means to get his attention, I started shooting with a Holga 120N. Luckily, he noticed me, but it is sort of tough to not notice a loud and crazy girl in a blue wig, isn't it?
Very quickly, though, I began to truly love shooting film. It eliminated the instant gratification of digital that I had become used to, and I started to rely on my instincts, rather than my LCD screen.
From the Holga, which is essentially a toy camera, I graduated to a Minolta Autocord, thanks to my good friend, Melissa, who so kindly gave me the camera that had once belonged to her grandfather.
All of this to say that film, quite simply, embodies love for me.
